Some client reviews…
Dr. Martin was quick, easy, and very responsive…
Dr. Martin was quick, easy, and very responsive. Dr. Martin responded to my emails within the hour, and was very clear and straight to the point with everything. I would highly recommend him if you need help with your mental health.
Easy from beginning to end…
Easy from beginning to end. Everything was made so simple and taken care of in such a timely manner. The consultation was a bit long but it was very thorough.
I don’t have to move thanks to Subrosa!
I have a lot of anxiety and being able to register Duke as an emotional support animal was such a relief. My apartment got new owners and they put in place a “no pet policy.” I don’t have to move thanks to Subrosa!
I would 100% recommend this practice to others…
Dr. Shiloh Martin was very quick with his responses and made the examination questions easy to understand and follow. He also made sure that his clients are all reading the required paperwork, which I thought was a very smart move since most people would probably try to skip reading through it. I would 100% recommend this practice to others, he made the experience very simple and easy to follow. I will use this practice again in the future.
I would definitely recommend his services…
Dr. Shiloh helped me to get my cat certified as an Emotional Support animal! He was very gracious and valued and respected my time. He was very pleasant to work with and made that I understood everything. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone who needs to get an ESA certification.
Thank you for your help with this process…
Dr. Martin was quick to respond. I came to him to be evaluated for an ESA. He doesn’t just do the evaluation but provides you with plenty of articles to read and follow up on so you truly understand the process and meaning of an ESA. Thank you for your help with this process.
They know what they are talking about…
Not as easy as some of the other places you see online but I like that they were very thorough in the evaluation. I feel good knowing that they know what they are talking about. Too many people try and register their pet as a service dog just so they can keep them. The process here is a bit longer than I did in the past but it is so much more in depth and I thank you guys for taking the time to weed out the fakers. All those fake letters out there make it hard for the rest of us. It is a disservice to those of us who truly need our dogs.
Felt like my voice was finally heard…
I could not be happier with my experience with Shiloh at SubRosa. I felt like my voice was finally heard. The entire process made me feel validated, and Shiloh made sure I was educated every step of the way. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
Absolutely amazing!
Absolutely amazing! I had a lot of questions having my American pitbull terrier as a emotional support animal and he was able to answer every question very professionally and he is very knowledgeable. I did not realize there was such a big difference. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to have helped me with this process. Thank you so much!!
Dr. Martin took the time to walk me through everything…
I came here because I thought it would be easy to register my dog as an ESA. What I didn’t realize was how much goes into this. I thought you paid a fee and they would register your ESA. I was wrong. Dr. Martin took the time to walk me through everything step by step and explained how an ESA is actually a medical device that is used to help you with your problems. I have anxiety and we talked about having an ESA could actually make my OCD and anxiety worse if I did not actively stay on top of it. I never even thought about this. The amount of time he took to really understand me and my situation was unbelievable. I will forever be thankful.
I am very happy with the quality of service…
Shiloh Martin seemed to be quite educated in their assessment of my ESA application. They provided me with plenty of well written articles to help me understand everything that comes with an ESA letter and I was surprised when I realized that Shiloh themselves had written the articles! I am very happy with the quality of service that they provided me with and I hope that through Dr. Martin’s help my paperwork will be able to go through smoothly!
The doctor is very good…
My English is bad. My husband beat me and I fled the country. I cry all the time. The doctor is very good. I have a bad image at night and now I can get a dog to protect me from bad men. Muchas gracias me salvaste.
This is not just paying money and they give you a letter.
I had a friend who went to another web site and after a few questions they got an email saying they were approved. That is NOT the case here!!! If you think you can say “I need my dog because it makes me feel better” You better think again. I had to show what they call the golden triangle. I thought it would be just pay some money and get a piece of paper. But no…. At first I was irritated because of this. BUT….Dr. Martin actually took some time to talk to me and gave me some different things that I can use when I am in public because my dog can’t be with me. There was so much that I thought I knew and I was wrong. He was so patient in answering all my questions and taking the time to explain different things like there is no “qualifying” for an ESA. He said that’s like asking you doctor if you could qualify for diabetes. Sounds pretty dumb but the way he explained it, it really made sense.
Unbelievable. They should be ashamed.
Unbelievable. They should be ashamed. I told them I was crazy and without my dog I would die. Then I had to answer all kinds of stupid questions. Like what are my “symptoms” and name things that can happen to my dog, what can happen to me and what can happen to the public if he isnt trained. This was so stupid and waste of time.
If I wanted to learn something I would go back to school. Just give me my damn paper and be done.
Response:
Some might wonder why we would post such a negative review. But we believe that the better educated you are, the better you’re able to make a sound decision. This is a great learning opportunity for somebody who wants a piece of paper and does not care about the actual need.
Unfortunately, the person posting this comment didn’t know that there are legal requirements to get an ESA, which is quite common. And some believe that just by paying a fee they can get a “piece of paper” saying they need an animal. Sadly, too often this is done by individuals who are trying to get around a federal law and they do not meet the criteria for an ESA.
Additionally, there is such a thing as a psychiatric illness being too severe for an emotional support animal. If a person believes they would die without having an animal, then there is most likely a higher level of treatment that is needed.
This patient did leave their name on the review. However, to protect their privacy, we have chosen to withhold it.
Very fast and the information provided helped greatly…
Response to my case regarding a emotional support animal was very fast and the information provided helped greatly with the whole process.
Dr. Martin jumped on the phone with me for nearly an hour to answer all of my questions…
I reached out to Dr. Martin after being referred by my service dog trainers. I was unsure about the medical evaluation process, and wanted to make sure that my request and needs were addressed by following properly certified and legally-correct channels. After one email, Dr. Martin jumped on the phone with me for nearly an hour to answer all of my questions, reference the legal parameters of the process, and his qualifications to help. I was surprised to learn that my apparent physical limitations can be (at least partly) attributed to psychological stimuli. I look forward to working with Dr. Martin in the future, especially after my dog’s training is completed.
Dr. Martin was extremely helpful…
Dr. Martin was extremely helpful and understanding throughout my process of getting an ESA!
I’m impressed.
I’m impressed. I wasn’t sure of exactly how the process would go when I applied for a letter for an ESA. SubRosa made sure I was educated about the difference between an ESA and a service animal as well as the various qualifying disabilities. They responded quickly to questions and made sure the process was thorough while being efficient.
I appreciate that I had this service to turn to…
Thankful for websites like these and people willing to learn and help. My personal doctors rejected my request and I appreciate that I had this service to turn to.
The in depth report I got really helped me…
Thank you so much. Last year I went though another company for my ESA. They nickel and dimed me for everything. This year I went through Sub Rosa. The in depth report I got really helped me identify things that were happening and helped me get on the right track. Thank you .
He made the process incredibly easy…
I met with Dr. Martin to be evaluated for an ESA and I have to say he made the process incredibly easy and was a pleasure to work with. So I would just like to thank him and everyone else involved for their help. Thank you for the kind words and for trusting Sub Rosa with your mental health needs.
The evaluation process was quick and easy…
I found Dr. Shiloh Martin though a website and used him for my daughter’s ESA evaluation. The evaluation process was quick and easy, however, my daughter’s college didn’t want to accept the letter and requested private medical information. Dr. Martin reached out to me and explained the legal aspect of the ESA letter. He helped me understand my daughter’s rights and helped me figure out what my next steps were. He even offered to let the college accessibility office call him so that we could get everything straightened out. We were able to reach out to a few people/organizations and Dr. Martin’s ESA letter for my daughter was approved. Dr. Martin is very understanding and very helpful when navigating through his process. I would highly recommend Dr. Shiloh Martin for any mental health services, ESA service etc. that you may require! Thank you, Dr. Martin, for everything!!!
Helped with everything I needed…
These people are Amazing and outstanding. Went the extra mile for me. Very helpful and sweet no rushing you and no attitude. Honestly just helped with everything I needed…he didn’t rush me or get irritated with all my questions.
I am extremely grateful for their services.
I had an evaluation for an ESA letter through Sub Rosa. They were extremely professional and responded quickly. They also took the time to make sure I understood what having an ESA meant. Additionally, they made sure that I understood how the ADA defined a disability and what major life events were. I am extremely grateful for their services.
Dr. Martin was a blessing…
Dr. Martin was a blessing. I had specific questions after the evaluation and he took the time to explain everything to me. There was so much that I did not realize. Did you know there is no such thing as certified or registered? I did not. He said “forensic evaluation” and I had no idea what that meant. He took the time to explain it all to me. I feel all I had to do was ask and he was willing to answer all my questions. Thank you so much!!
He took the time to make sure I understood things…
WOW!!! I have had an ESA for 3 years now. Nobody gave me the attention and time that Sub Rosa did. He took the time to make sure I understood things that I didn’t think were important. Do you know its a felony to act like your ESA is a service dog? Me neither. It was really eye opening. Thank you.
Dr. Martin will judge you…
Dr. Martin will judge you and make assumptions about you without asking first. He is very by the book and thinks he knows you from a couple of questions. People who use questionnaires to diagnose don’t deserve to be in this field. I’m a real person who needs help and you’re scoring me based off something I don’t even feel comfortable filling out? How am I supposed to rate myself or know all my symptoms? Some things I do day to day, I might not even recognize as a symptom. You are supposed to determine that or help me figure it out. Again, why did you even choose this field?
Response from Dr. Martin:
I am sorry that you felt judged and believe I made inaccurate assumptions. Based off your response here I believe you were requesting a forensic evaluation for an emotional support animal or Psychiatric Service Dog.
According to Sam Houston State University, “Unlike a therapeutic relationship, the forensic evaluation involves limited contact, an adversarial forum, an impartial stance, and a critical, evaluative style that includes reliance on collateral and corroborated information rather than mere assertions by the examinee.”
You are correct in that I am very by the book. Whenever a forensic evaluation is utilized, it must be by the book as it is determining things under federal law. Unfortunately, even if a clinician thinks something might be beneficial, if it is illegal they cannot legally and justify using it.
Under Federal law, a person must have a mental health diagnosis, this diagnosis must be considered a disability that prevents the individual from accomplishing major life events. This type of information is gathered from questionnaires to determine diagnosis, severity of disability, and major life events that may not be accomplished due to this disability.
The Fair Housing Act defines persons with a disability to mean those individuals with mental or physical impairments that substantially limit one or more major life activities. If a clinician were to submit a false report saying an individual meets criteria when they do not then it is a federal crime.
You ask why I am in this field and also mentioned that I should be helping you to determine your symptoms. The evaluation you requested is an evaluation that does not help you to identify and process emotions or symptoms. The mental health provider you see on a regular basis in the individual who would do that for you. This evaluation was to determine if you met criteria under federal law and not to help identify and process underlying issues. If you are not currently seeing an individual I recommend looking into this. They can help you better explore the emotions and symptoms you are having. In addition they may be able to help you learn different coping techniques.
In the sessions I have with my patients, we do exactly that.
I am in the field of mental health because I believe I am able to help people accomplish and live their best possible life.
The forensic component of mental health is to evaluate based on laws (black and white, by the books). I am in that portion because I believe our society operates successfully when people follow these laws and it improves the quality of all when this happens.
Because you did not leave a name or contact information I am unable to reach out to you for any type of clarification or to better explain.
Once again I am sorry you felt judged and if you would like to understand the legal and clinical reasons for this decision please feel free to reach out to me.
Class A Experience from start…
Class A Experience from start to finish. Dr. Martin by far offered a one of kind experience that is hard to come across. He came highly recommended to me and now I also will be recommending him. Thanks Doc for your assistance, lighting speed responses, and genuine support!
She helped me as much as she legally could with my ESA documents…
This kudos is for Shilo Martin is long overdue. He is phenomenal. He helped me as much as he legally could with my ESA documents and was fair, legal and very professional. Shiloh went beyond his duties to get me a copy of my ESA letter. People like Shiloh aren’t easily found. He’s a gem and I look forward to working with him next year! Regards, Mary Kris Richardson and my Stella Rose.
The process for an ESA letter was so simple, and thorough…
Shiloh was so AMAZING in my journey to getting an ESA. I have many challenges that I face daily. The process for an ESA letter was so simple, and thorough. He also made me aware of the legalities that come with an ESA/Service Animals. The more you know, the better. Very appreciative of how clear and thorough this process was, and excited to get my dog next week. Mahalo, Shiloh!!!
Dr. Martin was freaking awesome.
Dr. Martin was freaking awesome. The knowledge he has is mind blowing. (I felt bad after we talked on the phone cause I thought Shiloh was a girl before we talked). I wasn’t sure about talking to a female. I was glad he was not one. Thanks so much for providing not just the evaluation but also providing me with some coping skills to help me with my anger.
This has been the most helpful piece of info…
This has been the most helpful piece of info I could ever read when it comes to needing an ESA. I can now see how people may take advantage of this. I will keep up on all information from here forward to keep my mind well educated about these things. There was many things I didn’t know about ESAs I’m glad I got to read this. Thank you.
After talking with Shiloh it made perfect sense…
There are so many places that offer refunds I wasn’t sure about the no refund policy. After talking with Shiloh it made perfect sense. You can go with one of the other guys but you wont get the level of knowledge he has and the time he takes to make sure you fully understand. I never knew in some places it is a felony to say your dog is a service dog when it isn’t. WOW!!
Extremely knowledgeable about Emotional Support Animals…
Shiloh was so easy to talk to and I felt at ease right away. He was extremely knowledgeable about Emotional Support Animals and thoroughly helped me navigate the process. Shiloh was very professional and would highly recommend his services.
My concern was being judged…
My concern was being judged for needing additional emotional support in my life and Dr. Martin with SubRosa Mental Services made the entire process regarding an ESA evaluation seamless and I’m so thankful for him and his services!
Super grateful to have had a discussion with someone who cared…
I was so pleasantly surprised when I spoke with Dr. Shiloh Martin regarding emotional support animals. He was very generous in giving me information needed to navigate the space of owning an ESA, and corrected some language, that is widely used but false, about ESAs. I am super grateful to have had a discussion with someone who cared about spreading factual information to their client. Not to mention, I was introduced to other Subrosa resources that could be very beneficial to me.
I feel like my needs were met…
Dr. Shiloh Martin did an excellent job of explaining the legal terminology and implications related to Emotional Support Animals. He was very transparent in how his evaluation can and can not be used based on State-specific laws. I feel like my needs were met during the appointment, and I was fully informed about what to expect in the future. Dr. Martin seems to really care about his patients and answers questions in a way that makes sense. I appreciated his help.
With his help, I was able to get an ESA letter…
Dr. Shiloh Martin has been more than helpful with me. With his help, I was able to get an ESA letter that I was able to use for housing and many other things. Other than that, his helpful and sympathetic personality made the experience ten times better. If you need help with anything related to ESA or any Service Animal situation, I would definitely recommend Dr. Shiloh Martin.
Our letter arrived quickly and was approved…
Highly recommend! Our letter arrived quickly and was approved by our landlord. The whole process was a lot less stressful than I was expecting. Thanks Subrosa!
