Service Dog Training

February 21, 2023 by Shiloh Martin, LPC-S, CCMHC

Shared goal of improving the lives of individuals with mental health challenges.

Sub Rosa Mental Services and Service Dog Training School International are two organizations that have a shared goal of improving the lives of individuals with mental health challenges. While these organizations operate in different fields, they collaborate to provide comprehensive support for individuals struggling with mental health conditions.

This Partnership between Service Dog Training School International and Sub Rosa is positive impact for the mental health community.

Sub Rosa Mental Services is an organization that provides mental health services to individuals struggling with various mental health challenges. The organization has a team of mental health professionals who are trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and many others. Sub Rosa Mental Services also provides various therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychoanalytic therapy, and other evidence-based treatments.

On the other hand, SDTSI is an organization that provides service dog training to individuals with disabilities, including those with mental health conditions. These dogs are trained to provide assistance and support to individuals with disabilities, helping them to live more independently and improve their quality of life.

By combining the expertise and resources of Sub Rosa Mental Services and SDTSI, individuals with mental health conditions can receive a more comprehensive level of support.

Service dogs can provide emotional support to individuals with mental health conditions, helping them to reduce stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions. Additionally, service dogs can also assist individuals with mental health conditions in performing daily activities, such as providing reminders to take medication, reducing social anxiety by acting as a social bridge, and calming panic attacks by offering deep pressure therapy.

Mental Health Support

Sub Rosa Mental Services can provide the necessary mental health support to ensure that individuals with mental health conditions are better equipped to manage their mental health conditions. By working collaboratively with SDTSI, Sub Rosa Mental Services can help their clients to identify the benefits of having a service dog and determine whether it would be a viable option for them. The mental health professionals at Sub Rosa Mental Services can also help service dog owners to develop coping strategies for managing their mental health conditions.

SDTSI offers a variety of training packages to train both emotional support dogs and service dogs to meet the specific needs of individuals with mental health conditions.

What can the training do?

Service dogs can be trained to recognize the onset of panic attacks and provide a calming presence to help the individual feel more relaxed. Service dogs can also be trained to provide deep pressure therapy by applying pressure to certain parts of the body, which has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. Collaboration between Sub Rosa Mental Services and SDTSI  can greatly benefit individuals with mental health conditions.

Expertise of both organizations to benefit YOU.

By combining the expertise and resources of these two organizations, individuals with mental health conditions can receive a more comprehensive level of support, enabling them to live more fulfilling lives. With the help of service dogs and mental health professionals, individuals with mental health conditions can achieve greater independence, improved mental health, and an overall better quality of life.
