Dear Dr. Martin, I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to take a moment to share with you just how much my service dog means to me, and how she helps me manage the challenges I face each day with my health and service-related conditions.
As you know, I live with severe PTSD and have been rated at 70% by the military. I also have a 100% disability for ischemic heart disease, along with sleep apnea, diabetes, and diabetic neuropathy. These conditions can be overwhelming at times, but my service dog plays an essential role in helping me cope and stay safe.
She’s not just a companion — she’s a lifeline. She alerts me when my blood sugar drops too low, wakes me when I have trouble at night or can’t wake on my own, and helps ground me during anxiety or panic episodes related to my PTSD. She also helps me maintain routine, manage my daily medications, and gives me a sense of calm and stability when things feel out of control.
Living with multiple chronic conditions can make simple daily tasks difficult, but my service dog gives me the confidence and ability to live more independently. She helps me face each day with strength, security, and dignity.
I wanted to share this with you because her presence is a vital part of my overall health and wellbeing. I truly appreciate your understanding and support.
Thank you, Dr. Martin, for everything you do to help me on this journey.
